Wherever Possible, Supporting the Doge— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) 6 July 2022
Elon Musk stated in April 2019 that Elon Musk has been a supporter of Dogecoin ever since he stated that Mem Coin is his favorite cryptocurrency. He’s been a strong supporter of Dogecoin ever since, tweeting about everything from SpaceX putting “literal Dogecoin on the moon” to mining meme tokens with his kids.
In the weeks preceding Musk’s appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” Dogecoin hit an all-time high in May 2021. Today, the SpaceX CEO is still an ardent supporter of Dogecoin.
As previously reported by U.Today, Elon Musk said that he would continue to support Dogecoin and gave a unique reason for it: “I just know a lot of people who are not that rich who have helped me. I am encouraged to buy and support. Dogecoin. I am responding to those people.”
Maybe more down the road?
Last month, Dogecoin co-creator Billy Marcus tweeted that he wants people to “use it for something,” to which Elon Musk replied, “Tesla and SpaceX merch, probably more down the road.”
In a recent interview, Musk mentioned that SpaceX may soon accept Dogecoin as payment for goods, as Tesla already does.
Elon Musk’s The Boring Company now allows customers to pay for rides with Dogecoin on the Loop, the Las Vegas transit system. At the time of writing, the price of Dogecoin has remained largely unchanged, so it has yet to respond to this news. Dogecoin price was $0.068, up 1.70% from the previous day.
