
Jack Dorsey, the founder of fintech company Block Inc., announced that he is collaborating with rapper Jay-Z by starting a bitcoin academy in Brooklyn. The mission of Bitcoin Academy is to empower and provide education to the region. The project’s website further states that residents of Marcy House, located in Brooklyn, New York, will be eligible for free courses and other benefits such as Internet data plans.

Jack Dorsey, the former CEO and co-founder of Twitter and founder of Block Inc., announced on Thursday that he has partnered with popular rap artist Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) to start the Bitcoin Academy.
“Mr. [Shawn Carter] And I’m funding Bitcoin Academy, a program for residents of Marcy House in Brooklyn New York where Jay grew up,” Dorsey tweeted, The Block’s founder further explained that the project was also promoted by Crypto Blockchain Plug (Najah J. Roberts) and Black Bitcoin Billionaire (Lamar Wilson).

The Marcy House or Marcy Projects is a public housing complex located in Brooklyn, New York. Jay-Z lived there on Marcy Avenue when he was a child, and attended Eli Whitney High School. “Bitcoin is becoming an important tool for many people in Africa and Central and South America,” Dorsey continued in his Twitter thread. “We believe that equal potential exists within communities in America. Our goal is to prove that providing people with more powerful tools helps them build greater freedom.” Block executive said:
Education is where we begin. It’s not just about bitcoin… it’s about long-term thinking, local economies and confidence. Courses are free for all Marseille residents, including children. And to make it even easier, we are providing device and data plans for everyone who needs it.
Jay-Z Says ‘Hopefully Bitcoin Academy Is First in Brooklyn’
The Bitcoin Academy website notes that “education is power,” and classes will begin online or in person from June 22 to September 7. Website description “All Marcy residents welcome”. “Individual classes will take place two evenings per week and dinner will be served.”
Marcy residents will have access to MiFi devices if needed, a one-year data plan, and they can keep the devices. Bitcoin Academy is also focusing on youth and will have a “Crypto Kids Camp” for kids aged 5-17 on Saturday. The website also states that Jay-Z’s non-profit Sean Carter Foundation has also joined in.
“Shout out to Jack,” Jay-Z tweeted Thursday. “Bitcoin Academy started in Marcy, a place that has taught me a lot, hopefully the first of many. The simple goal is to help people build independence for themselves and then the community around them. have to provide.”
