Currently, the NFT market is valued at over $40 billion, whose valuation continues to grow. Most NFT projects fall into six categories: art, games, collectibles, metaverse, utility, and others.
According to a report published by Nature.com, the Art, Games and Metaverse projects accounted for nearly 90% of the total NFT exchange volume between January 2019 and July 2020, with 18%, 33% and 39% contributions, respectively. Since mid-July 2020, the NFT market volume has been mainly dominated by art and collectible assets, accounting for approximately 71% and 12%, respectively.
While most of the projects in the NFT market still revolve around art, collectibles and even gaming (to some extent), the Metaverse and other NFT projects are also coming to stake their claim to fame. .
A new project called Blockchain Relic has recently entered the NFT space with an impact-oriented goal that sets it apart from other projects. Its unique vision attracts a user base that includes everyone from scholarly historians to young college-goers. This first of its kind NFT project stands out in a sea of other popular art, collectibles, gaming and Metaverse projects because of its impact-oriented mission to provide an accessible, tech-based experience of history for future generations. Historical and cultural preservation.
But what exactly is it about this project that makes it so compelling?
let’s find out!
Blockchain Remnants: About the Project
Blockchain Relic is the first digital archiving project to preserve culture and heritage by combining the passion of history with the power of blockchain technology. With 3D scanning, NFT technology and community support at every stage of the process, the platform aims to create a futuristic museum that captures monuments and artifacts, making them accessible to future generations.
how it works
Blockchain Relic incorporates the best of Augmented Reality, 3D Scanning and Blockchain technology to preserve historical monuments and provide a lens through which people can view history in a futuristic experience. The project uses state-of-the-art artistic creations in the form of NFTs to present, recreate and pass on history, thus connecting the past with the future.
Why is Blockchain Remains Important?
As the world continues to make history, some existing historic buildings and monuments have been removed for a variety of reasons, from natural disasters to socio-political laws. Blockchain Relic’s mission is to preserve and pass on the dominant cultural and social narrative by documenting the legacy behind our historical monuments.
Blockchain Relix aims to do this by using blockchain technology that will maintain an immutable record of all documentation, ensuring that history and its narrative will always be available to mankind.
For example, BR’s flagship project has documented the Robert E. Lee monument, which holds great significance in the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. Even though this monument no longer stands today, its scanned NFTs issued by the blockchain Relix are available on the Web3 platform.
Key Features of Blockchain Remnant
Following are some of the main features of Blockchain Relic:
Unifying History and Blockchain Technology
The main objective of Blockchain Relic is to preserve the historical significance of the artifacts and make them easy to experience in the modern world. The project uses blockchain technology and NFTs to bring history into the metaverse so that everyday people have the power to participate in the recording of history and view historical events from multiple perspectives.
Implementing Powerful Web3 Tools
Blockchain Relic is using powerful Web3 tools such as drones, 3D scanning, blockchain technology and NFTs to represent real historical monuments in the metaverse space of the future. BR’s custom smart contract is designed to allow the NFTs of scanned historical monuments to be interacted with in new ways. With BR’s strong vision and amalgamation of powerful Web3 tools, future generations can also experience and understand the historical events that have shaped our world.
Protection and protection of cultural heritage
Monuments represent historical events, and blockchain relics invariably preserve these monuments, thereby protecting their cultural and historical value. By scanning the monuments as NFTs and sharing them with the community, BR is playing a vital role in preserving the global heritage. As people add their accounts and perspectives to these NFTs, a more robust historical record is created to represent all rather than just the privileged few.
For their flagship project, the Robert E. Lee Monument, the Blockchain Relics team themselves performed 3D scanning. However, the project will involve the community in everything from deciding which sites should be protected, to directly scanning the site and producing the NFTs. People can buy and collect NFTs, add details to their NFTs, and trade, sell or pass them directly to the next generation without any centralized control or influence. Therefore, community support and participation will be a top priority in all Blockchain Remains efforts.
Each Blockchain Remnant project will be associated with a non-profit group that aligns with the mission and provides essential services to the community.
Blockchain Relix has partnered with the Global Air Drone Academy (GADA) to provide free STEM education for school children in the Richmond area. BR is also working with the Richmond chapter of BLM to identify students who may be able to learn from this free program, participate in the BR project and pursue a career in drone photogrammetry.
Blockchain Relic’s co-founder, Terry Kilby, has already collaborated with EPFL to create an installation called “Speaking Back” for the Deep Fake exhibition at the EPFL Pavilion in Lausanne, Switzerland. BR also plans to develop more influential collaborations with museums, art centers and other organizations that align with the project’s objective of historic preservation through blockchain technology, NFTs and the Metaverse.
If you want to actively participate in preserving historical monuments and furthering their legacy, you can join Blockchain Relic by participating in their NFT drop and checking out their website, Twitterand other social media accounts for updates on new project developments.
